Description

Triangular rod is one of the fundamental tools in shaping wagashi, such as nerikiri and konashi, into abstract art pieces depicting seasons and nature.  The classic trio of sharp, blunt, and double edges are handcrafted onto this especially agile tool, thanks to its shorter length, while the pistil stamp at the end is made into an unconventionally chic 7mm.

The iconic ICHIKA kamon logo is branded onto one of the three sides in the hands of a retired Japanese artisan specializing in wagashi tool woodwork.  Limited stock left.

Length: 17 cm
Pistil stamp diameter: 7mm
Material: cherry wood

Made in Japan.

Since natural wood is the material used, there may be scratches, dents, or discolouration depending on the position of the wood knots.  Using of detergent with hard water also may deteriorate the material faster.  We do not accept exchanges or returns on this product.

Wagashi -- traditional Japanese sweets -- capture seasonality and imagery of nature in their aesthetics.  They are served before the bowl of matcha that concludes even the most elaborate kaiseki meal.  The specialty wagashi tools Gusta sources are from reputable makers.  They exhibit the craftsmanship that is respected also in wagashi making.
